Alex Knight is CEO of EDGE Labs, a strategic advisory firm with a focus on media and technology. Prior to founding EDGE, he was a Managing Director of ARCH Venture Partners, a venture capital firm with over $1 billion under management. Knight has served on the boards of Classmates Online, Dantz Software and ImproveNet. He also helped start several companies including About.com, NETBot and Throw. Previously, he held executive positions with News Corporation, Microsoft, Corbis and Apple Computer. He holds a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School.
President & CEO
Ron leads Datacastle’s strategy and business operations. He has 20 years of experience in senior operations, business development, and product development positions in software and services businesses. Prior to Datacastle, he served as VP and GM of the Mobile and Broadband Commerce business at Qpass (acquired by Amdocs). Prior to Qpass, he was at Apple heading up program management for Internet products as well as worldwide software configuration management. Ron holds a dual degree from Dartmouth College in Engineering Sciences and Philosophy. He also holds a MSEE from the University of Washington.
Founder & CTO
Gary is the technology visionary and founder of Datacastle Corporation. He has 20 years of experience in the design, development, and implementation of technology solutions across multiple industries. Prior to Datacastle, he spent 10 years in numerous roles at Microsoft, including Technical Architect for the Communications Sector hosting solutions, and as Product Unit Manager for one of Microsoft’s “Live” services. Previously, Gary spent two years as Chief Software Architect at Peakhour in Australia, and five years at Andersen Consulting.
Partner, Talu Ventures
Mark is a Managing Director with Talu Ventures, a leading Venture Fund Manager in Australia. Talu Ventures was founded in 2012 with a portfolio of investments formerly managed by CM Capital Investments. Mark joined CM Capital in 2006 and spent five years as a Partner responsible for all IT and Telecom investments before co-founding Talu. Mark is an experienced entrepreneur and senior executive with 23 years of operating experience in the technology sector. He has acted in General Management, Chief Executive, and Global Sales/Marketing capacities and has twice grown businesses as CEO to trade exit (Pacific Star Technologies, 1997; DSpace, 2007). With experience in developing, selling and delivering complex systems to over 30 countries and managing globally diverse technology companies, Mark has been involved in the many challenges facing entrepreneurs and developing companies in this sector. He has been based out of Australia and the USA at different times in his career and today sits on the Board of a number of Talu companies around the globe.
Partner, Ignition Partners
Richard has been a partner at Ignition focusing primarily on infrastructure software, including virtulaization, cloud and services investments. Richard’s prior investments include; Appature (IMS Health 2013), Azaleos (Avanade 2012), GotVoice (Spoken 2009), InstallFree (WatchDox 2012), Likewise (Isilon/EMC 2012), StorSimple (Microsoft 2012) and WHIPTAIL (Cisco 2013).
Prior to joining Ignition, Richard was 16 years at Microsoft Corporation in several leadership roles including serving on the executive staff as a division level vice president. Most recently, Richard was Senior Vice President of the OEM division where he was reponsible for Microsoft’s licensing business with PC OEM and embedded device manufacturers.
Richard and his wife Susan have been active in helping families of children wth developmental disorders. The Fades co-founded the Autism Center at the University of Washington. Richard is a board member of the Autism Center, and co-founder and pror chairman of the Autism Treatment Network (now part of Autism Speaks).
Principal, Better Health
Jim Sapienza is a consultant and advisor, with a career in the healthcare and life sciences industries. In his roles, he has engaged in work with IT vendors requiring data security and compliance with HIPAA policies. His engagements have spanned large companies (Siemens, GE, McKesson) to small companies (peerVue, Radimetrics, NDS-National Decision Support).
Since arriving to the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Sapienza has held executive roles with Virginia Mason, MultiCare and Salem Health where he has developed skills in IT-focused company partnerships and collaborative problem solving using Lean management principles. Previously, he was a national product manager for AstraZeneca in the life sciences industry.
Mr. Sapienza holds a Bachelors degree from Dartmouth College, and earned both his MHA and MBA from the University of Minnesota.
Founder & Managing Director, The Thaught Process
Rick Thau is a consultant/mentor/advisor, and investor in early stage information technology companies. As an Executive in Residence at InterWest Partners, he has worked with several companies such as Scale Eight (in San Francisco), Clairvoyant Software, and LongBoard, Inc.
From 1990 to 1999, Mr. Thau was CEO and a founder of FullTime Software (formerly Qualix Group) the market-leading provider of Reliability and Service Level Availability software for storage and network based computing. Previously, he was CEO of Micro-MRP (the leader in Manufacturing Planning and Control Software), and held Vice Presidential and General Management positions in computer graphics, information appliance, and information services businesses.
Mr. Thau holds a Bachelors degree in Engineering Sciences from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and has attended the MBA program at Santa Clara University.
